Although I feel I have lived in this city for far too long and am almost ready to move on, I must admit I do enjoy photographing the random, beautiful or compelling things I discover along the way.
When I walk this city using only my eyes, I see buildings, trees and rivers I have observed a million times earlier. I hardly take any notice.
When I walk this city through the lens of my Canon 750D, it’s a brand new world.
When my drama teacher assigned homework, I thought to myself, really? I’m already so busy with these private classes, my full time job and part time university studies.
I knew the task at hand wasn’t difficult; it was the soul searching and emptiness that I knew would follow me once I joined in.
I was pretty gifted at living a hermit crab lifestyle. I worked 40 hours per week, spent my nights researching and typing up my university assignments, and spent my weekends hiding in the bookstores of Brisbane.

There I sat, slothfully flicking through Cliff’s notes to find some over-blogged quote along the lines of, “reach for the moon, if you miss, you’ll land upon the stars.”
What if, I walked over to my bookshelf, and picked up a book? I have dozens of books- books I love to read, books I haven’t yet read. Books I tell myself I’ll read over the holidays, but never find the time.
There I stood, head tilted sideways, with my finger running over their dusty, forgotten spines.

And there it was- the quote that used me as a filing cabinet, who reached in to pull out my dusty, forgotten file.
